Fresh Expressions/Emergent Church Communities
The Diocese of Southwest Florida recently hosted the 2013 Missio Conference, a one day introduction to pioneering ministry and new church communities across the country and around the world. Many of the following sites were introduced at this conference and will give you an opportunity to read, view, and explore these exciting new movements!
Fresh Expressions (UK) is a United Kingdom website, encouraging and resourcing new ways of being church, working with Christians from a broad range of denominations and traditions. Fresh Expressions focuses on serving those outside the church, listening to people and entering their culture, making discipleship a priority, and forming church. This website features a well stocked resource page with book recommendations and downloadable Share Booklets and guides.
The Fresh Expressions (US) website offers information about Vision Days and other gatherings/trainings for those wishing to become fresh expression church communities. Submit your story here and share how the Holy Spirit is working in your church community!
Anglimergent is a relational network of Anglicans engaging emerging church & mission, or as they put it, a "big tent community of Anglicans." You will find a wealth of resources here, especially those that seek to build ongoing dialogue (i.e. blogs and discussion forums).
Emergent Voices
Phyllis Tickle, founding editor of the Religion Department of Publishers Weekly, is frequently quoted in print sources like USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, and innumerable blogs and web sites. She has been a leading voice in the Emergent Church movement and her works on that subject are listed here, as well as a free sample from her most recent book, Emergence Christianity.
Doug Pagitt is a "Social and Theological Entrepreneur & Goodness Conspirator." In addition to his roles as author, professional speaker, and consultant, he hosts a weekly radio show in the Twin Cities and is online at Doug Pagitt Radio.com. He is the founder of Solomon's Porch, a holistic missional Christian community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is one of the founder of Emergent Village, a social network of Christians around the world.
