About the Episcopal Charities Fund

The Episcopal Charities Fund of Southwest Florida exists for the purpose of funding parish-based outreach and special needs ministries through a competitive grant program that is open to all churches within the Diocese of Southwest Florida.

The Episcopal Charities Fund grants are funded from several sources:

  • A percentage of interest income from the Episcopal Charities of Southwest Florida endowment;
  • A tithe from the annual Bishop’s Appeal;
  • Donations to the Episcopal Charities Fund for specific ministries or designated projects; and
  • Parish partnerships with other community organizations or granting entities.

Grants are awarded annually by Diocesan Council following recommendations made by the Council on Deacons. The Council announces the awards at the Annual Diocesan Convention.

With a Diocese as diverse as ours, we have no problem finding unmet needs to fill. And a diocesan response that is parish-based means we can address different priorities in different parts of the Diocese. The opportunities to serve our various communities in this way are endless.

The ministries funded by Episcopal Charities Grants serve community needs through congregational initiatives as standalone ministries or through partnerships and collaborative relationships between and among our churches and in partnership with other community-based nonprofit organizations.
