Constitutions and Canons of the Church

Clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida

The Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Church are the rules and by-laws by which the church is governed. The General Convention of The Episcopal Church meets every three years to set up the Episcopal Church's Constitution and Canons.

At the local level, each diocese of The Episcopal Church has its own Constitution and Canons. The Diocese of Southwest Florida's Constitution and Canons were first created in 1969 with the creation of the Diocese; changes are made at Annual Convention held each fall.

Proposed changes to the Diocesan Constitution and Canons are supervised by the Commission on Constitution and Canons; click HERE for contact information.

The Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Church and Diocese of Southwest Florida are provided in .pdf format for viewing or download, in our annual Journal. In addition, the Constitution and Canons are available in Spanish.
