General Convention
General Convention is the legislative gathering of The Episcopal Church, held every three years. It has been held since 1785, when the first General Convention was held in Philadelphia. The Diocese of Southwest Florida is represented at General Convention by four deputies and two alternates.
It is a requirement of Canon I.1.1.e that dioceses receive notice whenever any alteration of the Book of Common Prayer or of the Constitution is proposed. The 80th General Convention proposed three resolutions with changes to the Constitution. The Diocese of Southwest Florida hereby makes known such proposed alterations to the Convention.
