Education for Ministry (EfM) mentor training

EfM seminar groups work under the leadership of mentors who contract to serve as guides and administrators. They are not teachers in the traditional sense who are expected to impart information about the Christian tradition. 

As administrator of an EfM group, the mentor is the person through whom the group communicates with the Programs Center. A mentor must work as an enabler rather than as an informer of people. Mentors may be lay or ordained persons. Criteria by which mentors are selected include: having experience in serious religious study, having a familiarity with methods of biblical scholarship, possessing a mature faith, being able to live with the ambiguity within the interpretations of the biblical tradition, possessing skills which help a group to develop its own life, and demonstrating a willingness to perform administrative duties.

Day 4 Hope

Day 4 Hope:  This event, which is scheduled for Sat. Aug 5 from 9 – 3, is a wonderful opportunity for us to practice hospitality.  We will be hosting our neighbors, members of the community who live near by (their children will go to Ashton Rd. Elementary, which is only a few blocks from St. Wilfred.) Other churches which have participated in this effort for several years tell of families who, having been served once or twice, have begun attending church in their host churches.  At the very least, we will be able to show Christian hospitality and caring to these potential new friends.
   If you are able to volunteer that day PLEASE fill out a form.  They are available at both entrances to the church.  We need to get it in writing as soon as possible, as we need to send our list in to the central office.
  We also continue to accept financial gifts for this work.  If you have given, please consider sharing a corporate donation letter with a business that you patronize regularly.  We will happily list our corporate donors on a big sign the day of the event, letting everyone know who supports us.
