Elected Ministries

The Vestry and the Endowment Committee are elected ministries.  The Vestry is a

commission of nine members elected by the congregation.  They represent the congregation in the affairs of St. Wilfred.

The Endowment Committee function is to guide and manage the Endowment Fund.

The members of this committee generally have financial knowledge that supports the growth of this fund.

Ministries

WORSHIP

We celebrate God’s love for us through our worship – our Sunday worship services are at 7:45 which is a traditional service without music for those seeking a quiet contemplative worship experience, and 10:00 which has choir and organ music.  All baptized Christians are welcome at the altar to receive communion.  Nursery care is provided for the 10:00am service.  A Worship Committee meets once a month with our Priest-in-Charge and Choir Director to discuss the Liturgy. There are many opportunities to volunteer in serving at the services:  Altar Guild, Lay Readers, Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, etc.

ADULT CHRISTIAN FORMATION

We offer occasional education programs for people of all ages.  The programs are aimed at helping to better understand the Christian Faith and transform lives as we together become Disciples of Christ. Men’s Bible Study group meets September through May on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.

OTHER MINISTRIES

Altar Guild

A wonderful, fulfilling ministry open to all!  We prepare the Altar for all worship services including weddings, funerals and special events.  If interested in becoming a member please call the church office and they will direct you to the Guild Directress.

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care team which includes clergy and lay members of St. Wilfred pray with and offer Holy Eucharist to those in hospitals, Nursing homes, and those who are homebound.  The clergy, in addition to their sacramental, preaching, teaching and administrative responsibilities, offer pre-baptismal, and pre-marital counseling, provide support during relationship challenges and are available at times of crisis and death.  We also as a team help with special needs such as meals for those who are recovering from an illness.

Anyone suffering from physical, emotional or spiritual concerns is lifted up in prayer at each service and all members of our church are urged to pray for them each day.

All are invited to join us in this ministry.

Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King is a Lay Order of women who take a lifelong vow to follow a Rule of Life which requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism.  We serve our Priest-in-Charge and participate in other ministries in our church and our community.  Anyone in good standing with our Priest-in-Charge and congregation is welcome to join after attending a 12-step mentoring study which allows them to be certain they are called to this ministry.

Order of St. Luke

The Order of St. Luke the Physician is a Christian Organization that works so that the world will be touched by the healing power of the Holy Spirit.  It is devoted to bringing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all who need physical, spiritual or emotional healing.  Everyone is welcome to come and grow in this ministry.

Cursillo

Cursillo is a ministry that focuses on raising leaders in the church via a three day weekend spent in worship, prayer, learning, praise and singing which is truly a spiritual experience.  If you feel you are interested, you may contact our Priest-in-Charge.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic  Ministers assist at the Liturgy on Sundays and other services.  Lay Eucharistic Visitors bring communion to homebound parishioners after the services. Both require training and licensing by the Diocese.  If you feel you are called to this ministry contact our Priest-in-Charge.

 Office Volunteers

Being an Office Volunteer is a good way to learn about St. Wilfred and all it has to offer. It also provides assistance to the Parish Administrator in all that she does.

 MEN’S GROUP

The Men of Aim strive to unite the men of our church and community with ACTION, INTEGRITY AND MATURITY. Our regular meeting of AIM is held on the second Sunday of each month except July and August at 11:30am with breakfast.

OUTREACH

As we seek to share Christ's love with others in our community we work with other churches and community groups in providing food, shelter and comfort to those in need. Partners include Resurrection House, Beneva Christian Bank and Sarasota United for Responsibility and Equality (SURE). We also work with Family Promise, the faith based entity enabling communities to work together to meet the needs of homeless families including being a host congregation that periodically provides a home for families in crisis. In addition we provide space for other groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and T.O.P.P.S. weight loss program.

Do You have a group that meets weekly or monthly? Consider St. Wilfred Ministry Center for your next meeting. Call 924-7436 for details.
