The Tradition Continues ...

Since 2006 Brother Nicholas Cutbert Thirkettle OSB, a monk of the Community of Saint Joseph, an Episcopal Monastery in Natchez, Mississippi, has been producing fine handmade soaps.

Now, under the tutelage of Br. Nicholas, members of the congregation of Saint Elizabeth Episcopal Church of Zephyrhills, Florida is continuing the production of Brother Nicholas's Monastery Soap. We are using the same recipes that were passed down to us from Br. Nicholas. We are using the same ingredients Br. Nicholas used as well. 

Each bar of soap is made with a generous splash of Holy Water.

We produce our soaps using the cold process method combining the holy water, oils, shea butter and fragrances into bars of soap weighing approximately 5 ounces.  Once cut into bats the soap is air dried for 3 weeks to reach optimal hardness. Every phase of production, from weighing and measuring the ingredience, hand milling the soap into bars, labeling and shrink wrapping, is done by hand. As with all non-manufactured item, the size and weight of each bar varies slightly.
