GOOD SHEPHERD MUSIC PROGRAM The music program at Good Shepherd is an integral part of our parish life and worship. Serving the Lord God through music is our mission.
The choir is made up of volunteer singers who have at least a basic knowledge of reading music and are able to match pitch. Anyone who is interested in joining the choir must be willing and able to make a reasonable commitment to the group. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm until 9:00pm in the choir room. The choir sings at the 10am service on Sundays from the Sunday after Labor Day in September through Trinity Sunday. The choir also sings for the Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and both the 8am and 10 am services on Easter Sunday.
One special fund-raising event occurs yearly for the Music Department; the Talent Show during the month of August.
The English Hand bell choir consists of twelve members who can count! You do not have to know how to read music. We have a 3 octave set of Schulmerich bells which we ring once a month for the 10am service. Bell rehearsal is on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm in the bell room. The Bell Ringers also ring for the Talent Show. We do a variety of music from renaissance to contemporary composers.
We have a three manual Allen organ and a Kawai piano in the church. We are blessed with many gifted musicians that assist us by playing flute, woodwinds, brass and strings for Sunday Services when needed and for special occasions.
